Someone turned the crank to make the sun rise Filmed during 4 months of isolation in the north mountain region of Portugal, Bruta Gruta presents a personal and codified portrait, a film based on several dialogue recordings made with Yagui (fictional name for a shepard from Campo do Gerês village). This initial recordings were the psychological and geographical starting point for a narrative that evolves around symbolic granitic regions and topics such as death and animism. The subtle bridges between imagery and sound are a mapping of a particular human isolation, a very specific one that corresponds to this man timeless visions and topography. It could be everywhere, it could be anything, any time, but no, we are sure this is the place, the most specific of all places.
